Earlier today a report coming from Kotaku, following up a forum post on NeoGAF, revealed that the next Assassin’s Creed game, codenamed “Empires” will be releasing in 2017, skipping 2016 entirely. The reports further speculates that Watch Dogs 2 and will take place based in San Francisco.

2016 won’t be an entire absence of the franchise, which will include the theatrical film starring Michael Fassbender, and two side-scrolling action games with one releasing next week, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India.

With the movie releasing on December 21st ,2016, is Ubisoft pushing back the game series to create space when it releases in November?  We’ve reaching out to Ubisoft for comment and they have responded stating, ” We can’t comment on rumor or speculation. We’re always happy when players are excited about our games, past, present and future. In the meantime, we hope that the latest images from the Assassin’s Creed movie set will keep fans of the franchise happy and eager to find out more!”
