Rocksteady Studios teased us back in April when they first showed glimpses of Batman: Arkham Knight‘s Dual Play Combat. The April trailer showed that it existed, but we had no idea how the new feature actually worked. Now, courtesy of the second episode of Rocksteady’s Arkham Insider, we get fresh details straight from the developers themselves.

In the below video, we see Batman and Nightwing teaming up to take out a room full of goons tasked with guarding Penguin’s weapons cache. It’s a bad gig to have. As Batman, you start jumping from foe to foe as you disable them with combos in typical Batman: Arkham fashion. Across the room Nightwing is being controlled by the game’s A.I. and dishes out his own unique brand of vigilante justice.

As we watch Tim Hanagan, Batman: Arkham Knight‘s Lead A.I. Programmer, take care of roughly a dozen enemies as Batman, he confirms that with a press of a button he can seamlessly assume control of Nightwing. The A.I. then switches over to Batman and you continue the bruising without ever losing a step – or a combo.

While battling, you can build upon your Takedown Meter, which when unleashed leads to “epic” takedowns that utilize both heroes in the fray. Watch the first half of the video below to see it in action. After the first half comes some fan questions you may want to stick around for.

Batman: Arkham Knight releases on June 23rd.
