Call of Duty users on Xbox will be able to purchase the second DLC Call of Duty: Ascendance on March 31st for Xbox. It will consist of 4 new multiplayer maps, a brand new weapon, and the next chapter of the exo-zombies story.

Multiplayer

One of the four maps that was shown in the trailer is called Site 244.

As you can see form the picture there is an alien crash overlooked by Mount Rushmore. Its size is medium and has the ability to cater to any kind of play style whether you are a run-and-gun type player or everyones favorite sit-and-wait more commonly known as camping game style. It also has a map exclusive scorestreak where you crack open an alien spore to upgrade your exo-skeleton abilities along with glowing green.

Another map shown is called Perplex, and yes it looks as perplexing as it sounds.

It’s a futuristic apartment complex filled with blocky living quarters 5 stories high. This map focuses on the vertical gameplay of the new Call of Duty along with the close combat style of so many before. One could stay up top or run down below with shotguns or SMGs. After awhile like most dynamic maps this one will switch it up mid game. While you are playing drones “reconstruct” the complex by moving around the rooms by the air changing the layout of the map in a sense. Making for some interesting gameplay.

The third map is one called Climate, which is shown below.

It’s the smallest map of the four and is a future man made colony with lush greens and fresh water. Watch out though as another hazard awaits you in this dynamic map mechanic when the fresh clean spring what turns in to a hazardous lethal ooze will kill you in no time. This is proceed by an announcement of the water purification systems being offline. It is also something to not that this map is not a traditional shape which is that of a circle.

The last map of the four is called Chop Shop. It takes a hard right turn from the other maps.

It is a darker map that takes place in an illegal black market exo shop. The map is quite interesting in the fact that it is symmetrical and adds yet another map exclusive score streak being a turret that shoots out deadly microwaves enabling people to block off choke points and keep areas from being breeched. All this while being a close quartered map that is medium sized for balanced gameplay.

Exo-Zombies

For those of you who used to sit and play zombies for hours on end with your friends until your hands cramp a new zombie map is like getting that gift you really want. The next chapter in the exo-zombie story line is called Infection and it takes place at Burger Town, which is the equivalent of a Burger King in real life. Not much is known about the story, but even if you do not play zombies for the story the map looks like it is a lot more open with less choke points as the map released in the Havoc DLC. It also seems like you will have a chance to actually save survivors by leading them to an evacuation. All four of the stars including John Malkovich are back. Not much of the story is revealed yet, but surely after the release details will be unlocked (along with the easter egg). If you are interested the video will be below.

Extra Features

Along with the 4 maps and the next part of the exo-zombies for Ascendance there will be a release of new weapon called the OHM along with the OHM Werewolf variant.

This is a first of its kind in the Call of Duty universe by being two weapons. A shotgun for the close quarters when you need to get out of a jam, but use the action and turn it seamlessly into a powerful LMG for shedding any enemy. Making it powerful in more then one way. The OHM Werewolf variant is essentially a separate skin of the OHM.

The final feature that Call of Duty: Ascendance has to offer is a new game “mode” called grapple mode. This is a playlist where you can play with the grapple hooks from the campaign on the four new Ascendance maps. This could included other maps in the future.

Overall the new Call of Duty: Ascendance DLC looks very promising. With new dynamic maps featuring the light and dark side of the future, the exciting second chapter of the exo-zombies story, and a new weapon with a new game mode. This map pack could be a great addition to the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare game.
