Darksiders II, developed by Nordic Games, was released back in August of 2012 to solid reviews. Three years have passed and new consoles are among us. So, Nordic thought, why not follow the current trend and release an upgraded version for the now current generation systems? Well, as you might guess, they are doing just that. Ladies and Gentlemen, Nordic Games presents: Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition.
For those that missed out on Darksiders II a few years back, this appears to be a hell of a package. The name is amazingly hokey, which is great, but the content is the real sell here. Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition is taking the original game and optimizing it for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. If you don’t know much about the title, here’s a synopsis:
“Awakened by the End of Days, Death, the most feared of the legendary Four Horsemen, embarks upon a quest to restore mankind, and redeem his brother’s name. Along the way, the Horseman discovers that there are far worse things than an earthly Apocalypse, and that an ancient grudge may threaten all of Creation…”
A major selling point for this edition of the game is that it comes equipped with every DLC that has been released. Nordic Games states that the DLC content has been “included and implemented into the game, offering a total playtime of more than 30 hours.”
Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition will feature an improved Graphic Render Engine that will increase visual fidelity, especially in the regards to lighting and shadows. The game’s resolution as a whole is being heightened too so that it will run in native 1080p. This, in turn, has allowed the developers to implement “reworked level, character and environment graphics.”
Finally, Nordic Games has also stated that they have “reworked and tuned game balancing and loot distribution” so that Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition plays as seamlessly as possible. A solid release date has yet to be announced, only that they are aiming for Winter. We’ll let you know when we hear anything more.
