The year of the delay continues.
Today, publisher Deep Silver announced that Dead Island 2 has been delayed from 2015 to 2016. Deep Silver has stated that the main reason for the delay is that they want to bring their full vision to life, and that’s going to take longer: (Twitter)
“We have always set ourselves a big goal for Dead Island 2: to create the sequel that takes Dead Island to the next level. A game that takes what our fans tell us they love about Dead Island – multiple different characters to play with, co-op, and turning a paradise setting into a zombie slaughter melee – and a game that adds a ton more content and combat options on top of that.”
Deep Silver goes on to say that while they would have liked to have the game done by Spring 2015, they’re going to need more time to get it done.
It always stinks when a game is delayed. However, we (as consumers) want the best possible product, and if that takes some extra time, so be it. Dead Island 2 is being developed by Yager Development; the same studio that brought you the fantastic Spec Ops: The Line.
We’re interested to see how the game shapes up. Until then, you can go watch that E3 2014 trailer again.
