The Defenders

We’ve been building towards this since Daredevil first began streaming for Netflix users on April 10th, 2015. The show was great, and it was followed by a solid second season. Jessica Jones was a joy to watch. Luke Cage too. And Iron Fist – well, let’s just not talk about Iron Fist. The four saviors of New York City are ready to band together. And we have our first footage of it with The Defenders first trailer.

“A Quartet of Singular Heroes with One Common Goal.”

Here is Marvel and Netflix’s official summary of the upcoming show:

“Marvel’s The Defenders follows Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones). A quartet of singular heroes with one common goal – to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.”

Not much to go on, eh? We know that Sigourney Weaver is playing the big bad of the season. Whom she works for though, we don’t know. The Hand is most certainly involved. And Elektra with them as seen in the trailer. There’s some fun banter that the crew employ amongst one another in the two minute plus clip. It gives hope that the group dynamic won’t have a negative effect on these heroes that are typically loners.

The Defenders hits Netflix on August 18th. Get your popcorn ready.
