We’re just about a week away from the release of Doom. Bethesda’s reboot of the series will be the first major outing in the franchise since 2004’s Doom 3. How the series’ rebirth will fare is still up for debate, but each trailer appears to showcase more and more of what made the franchise what it was.
Early in the launch trailer our character awakens to a droid of sorts snickering, saying that “you’ve returned.” He continues, “the only flesh and blood to walk between dimensions – between our world and theirs.” It’s vague, yes, but it’s all we have to go on at this point – and it’s all we need. Cue the music and kick assery.
Things get messy as our character dons the iconic outfit and helmet and begins raising hell on… well, hell. Skeletons and dismantled. Demons are demolished. Rockets are rocketed. It looks legitimately like fun. Let’s just hope Bethesda developed Doom to be more than a few hour long punch line.
The game launches on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on Friday, May 13th. Check out the final trailer below and get hyped as hell.
