After teasing fans regarding an upcoming reveal, developer Dimps has announced Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. Dimps, with Bandai Namco Games publishing, put out Dragon Ball Xenoverse in February 2015. Apparently the game did well enough, and fans clamored for more, as its sequel was revealed today.
It’s pretty vague at this point what the RPG/fighting game’s story will revolve around, but Dimps has been celebrating the history of the franchise lately while teasing Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. There are plenty of iconic characters in the clip, and the video gives us a shallow directive: “Your mission. Protect the history of Dragon Ball.”
The trailer then cuts to a quick glimpse of a magical looking purple scroll before showing us clips from the Dragon Ball time line. We see the past. We see the future. The trailer mentions “outcomes you wished were different.” And then, the logo:
I’m assuming we’ll be hopping around various points of the Dragon Ball timeline within Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. But is that because we want to as fans, or because some entity is forcing us to within the narrative? We’ll have to see when Dimps is ready to show us more. The game is planned for release in 2016 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
