It appears as though Gearbox isn’t done with Duke yet. The studio has revealed that to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Duke Nukem 3D, we’re getting a new edition of the iconic title with new levels to boot. It’s being dubbed Duke Nuke 3D World Tour.
Forget Hillary and The Donald.
The trailer released today teases the upcoming Presidential campaign we’re in the midst of. We get a few quotes from what I’m assuming is Duke’s running platform. “I like people who weren’t captured”, he begins. “Are we sure political experience is what we need?” And finally, “I’ll rip your neck off and shit down your neck.” You stay classy, Duke.
While the trailer then cuts moments from Duke Nukem 3D World Tour, we get more political promises. Strong Diplomatic Negotiations – as Duke blasts enemies to bits with a grenade. Funding for Fine Arts – as he tosses money at an exotic dancer. Progressive Thinking – which he demonstrates with shotgun blasts foes. And finally, Aggressive Alien Invasion Policies – I think this one speaks for itself. Oh, and of course, Healthcare for Everyone.
Perhaps the biggest news with this reveal though is the touting of an all new 8 level episode. This isn’t something just dreamed up by those porting it though, this is coming right from the source. Level designs are by Duke’s original creator Allen Blum III with additional new content by “legendary level designer” Levelord. Duke Nuke 3D World Tour has also secured new music from the iconic Lee Jackson. And, most importantly, we have the original Duke himself, Jon St. John, voicing the big guy again.
Checkout the new trailer to get a feel as to what’s to come. Duke Nukem 3D World Tour is coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4 on October 11th.
