The impossible has happened. Sony opened up their press conference with the white whale of E3 titles – The Last Guardian.

It’s real and it’s spectacular – at least in demo form. The game play trailer featured heavily what appears to be the core dynamic of the game – the duo of the boy and his giant dog/bird/beast hybrid platforming across high rising ruins while escaping scripted destruction sequences. You could The Last Guardian has got a bit of an Uncharted flare to it.

Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony’s Worldwide Studios, then came out to greet the crowd once The Last Guardian‘s presentation concluded. The man couldn’t have seemed happier to finally have the monkey off his back.

Sony announced a 2016 release for The Last Guardian at the conclusion of its demo. Lets hope that’s solid and doesn’t disappear on us again…
