At EA’s press conference they revealed some details for FIFA 17. The major addition is a mode called The Journey. The Journey looks to essentially be a story mode, with scripts and performances, where you control the decisions of the protagonist Alex Hunter. Unlike the story mode in say NBA 2K16, you don’t create your own character. We’ll see if this leads to good storytelling, which would be an interesting to see in a sports game. The trailer for The Journey can be seen below.

EA also showed a gameplay trailer which shows new on the field changes. These new features are changes to physical play, an active intelligence system, new attacking techniques, and set piece rewrites. These features are pretty vague at the moment so hopefully we’ll learn more later. The gameplay trailer can be seen below.

FIFA 17 launches September 17th on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, and PC.
