Today, EA Sports issued a statement via Twitter, stating that Patrick Kane will no longer appear on NHL 16‘s cover or do any promotional activities.

“In light of the ongoing investigation involving Patrick Kane, he will no longer be a spokesperson for the launch of EA Sports NHL 16,” the company released in a statement on Wednesday. “He will not appear on the EA Sports NHL 16 cover, nor participate in other … promotional activities.”

Patrick Kane is currently the focus in an alleged rape investigation in his hometown of Hamburg, N.Y. Police are collecting and testing forensic evidence.EA Sports has since removed Patrick Kane from its social media channels

Here is the new solo cover featuring Jonathan Toews that will now be seen in store shelves. NHL 16 will release on September 15th for Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
