Excited for The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes? Anxious to see a bit more of it ahead of its release on October 23rd? Well, luckily for you, Eiji Aonuma, Series Producer for The Legend of Zelda, has just released a 15 minute Let’s Play for the game.
Mr. Aonuma starts the video out by explaining how Four Swords was a direct inspiration to The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes. However, in this version, all the Links won’t be on one screen, and there will be three as opposed to four. You’ll have your own screen to adventure with, and you can connect with other players via Local Play, Download Play or Online Play.
A”I bet many of you are wondering how we solve puzzles together online?’, Aonuma posits. “I’ll explain while I play the game…” Let the Let’s Play commence! Aonuma begins by declaring that the game takes place in the kingdom of Hytopia. While tempted to show off the town, Mr. Aonuma heads directly to the kingdom’s castle instead.
Once entering, you’ll quickly find a lobby that features a blue square, a green square, and a red square. This is where we are matched with other players online. An elder is nearby, and instructs our Link that “only trios of heroes are permitted to enter the Drablands.” Here is where you choose either Local, Download, or Online Play. Aonuma chooses Online Play, which then lets him decide whether he is paired with Unknown Heroes or Friends.
Mr. Aonuma chooses Unknown Heroes, but admits he other developers waiting for him to join. From there he is taken to the Hytopian world map. There are four areas to choose from, but there appears to be five additional areas that are masked by cloud cover at the outset. One could guess that there will be 9 total areas to unlock within The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes.
He chooses the first area which is called Woodland, and then goes into a waiting menu for two additional heroes to arrive. It only takes a few moments for Red and Blue Links to join. They already chose the Woodland area – now they must decide upon a dungeon. There are four dungeons to choose from, decides upon the Deku Forest. The menu then pulls up a roulette wheel which makes the final decision on the dungeon in case there were any difference of opinion.
Our heroes then enter the outfit menu, look through their available options as different outfits provide different stat boosts, then finalize their wardrobe and enter the chosen dungeon. The first room of the dungeon hosts three bows for our heroes to take. “As you can see, this time all three items are bows. But depending on the course you select the items available to you will be different. So sometimes there may be just one bow, and other items will be bombs or something else.”
The three Links grab the three bows, and the adventure begins… The video is below for your viewing pleasure.
