Bethesda updated their official Fallout 4 blog today in order to give us the inside scoop as to what their post-launch plans are for the upcoming game. Updates, Mods, and DLC were all discussed.
The developer promises regular updates for Fallout 4 after it ships, and they’ll all be free. This includes both game fixes and new features. The studio promises to “work with all of you to figure out what new things you’d love to see added to Fallout 4, whether they are small tweaks or new features.”
Bethesda is still fully onboard with Fallout 4 mod support, reiterating that “the most important thing in our games is the freedom you have to create your own experience.” They promise that in early 2016 they will release a free Creation Kit for PC users that is the same that they use in-house. Consoles users can look forward to the tools as well, as Bethesda is “especially excited these same mods will then be coming to Xbox One, and then PlayStation 4.”
Now, onto DLC:
“We’ve always done a lot of DLC for our games. We love making them and you always ask us for more. To reward our most loyal fans, this time we’ll be offering a Season Pass that will get you all of the Fallout 4 DLC we ever do for just $30.”
Considering Fallout 3 had five different and well received DLC additions, Bethesda thinks you’ll be getting your money’s worth: “Based on what we did for Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Skyrim, we know that it will be worth at least $40, and if we do more, you’ll get it all with the Season Pass.”

Bethesda admits they have no idea what their DLC plans are at this point, but they do foresee the ability to start rolling the content out early next year.
