Thor: Ragnarok

Marvel make Monday far less gloomy by dropping pure gold into our laps. The first teaser trailer for Thor: Ragnarok has hit the web.

“We Know Eachother!! He’s a Friend From Work!!”

The first thing that comes to mind after watching the film’s first trialer – it just look fun. The film’s director, Taika Waititi, has set a tone that would make you think this is another Guardians movie. But it’s not, of course. Instead, in Thor: Ragnarok, we’re getting a heavier dose of the more playful Thor that we don’t get to see much outside of the Avengers flicks.

In the trailer, things aren’t going well for our God of Thunder. Asgard is big trouble, as Cate Blanchett’s Hela threatens its demise. Thor, of course, tries to stop this. But he’s not ready for the challenge that Hela brings and she quickly stops Thor and does a number on poor Mjolnir.

We get a glimpse of Idris Elba’s Heimdall here, but appears much more rabid and wild now. Loki gets a bit of screen time here and there. But you can’t really tell what his motives are at this point. There’s no sign of Odin. No sign of the Warriors Three and Lady Sif. But we do get to see Jeff Goldblum’s fantastic Grandmaster. And of course his most shiny toy…

Thor: Ragnarok was described by some as a buddy film of sorts by those with early knowledge of it. Those buddies in this film? Thor and non-other than our Incredible Hulk. The Grandmaster reveals Hulk as a beast that the now imprisoned Thor must battle. When Thor sees the reveal, he becomes overjoyed with glee. “Yes!!” he screams. “We know each other! He’s a friend from work!” It’s an amazing moment.

It’s short lived, of course. For whatever plot delivered reason, Hulk still runs straight for Thor and we’re sure to get a battle of some sort between the two before they “buddy” up. Check out the clip below, it’s fantastic. Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters in November.

Growing up a 90's kid, Jeff found his love for gaming during Nintendo's heyday. Because of that, you could call him a "Nintendo Fanboy" (albeit a rational one) to this day. Outside of his passion for the gaming industry, he’s also an avid sports enthusiast (New York Giants and Philadelphia Phillies mainly) and enjoys quality/popular TV shows and movies.
