Gears of War 4 showed off how pretty it could be during Gamescom today. Microsoft released ten minutes of fresh gameplay that puts the title under the 4K spotlight.
Look At It! It’s Glorious!
The video takes place during the Gears of War 4 “Rescue” mission that players will encounter early on in the game: “Our heroes JD, Kait and Del are chasing an unknown enemy through an old fort. Along the way, they encounter two fierce Swarm enemies – Drones and Pouncers – for the first time.” “These guys are smarter” as Kait puts it. To which Del ignorantly replies, “they’re not smarter than us! What are you saying?” She, of course, was referencing earlier enemies in the game. Del is just… Well, Del is Del…
The 4K resolution looks quite sharp in the footage we’re seeing. It is, of course, running on a PC as opposed to a Xbox One though. Microsoft specified the footage was captured on a Windows 10 PC in 4K resolution with an NVIDIA GTX 1080 GPU. Gears of War 4 is part of Microsoft’s Play Anywhere initiative. You can play the game across both the Xbox One and PC via cross-platform compatibility.
Gears of War 4 really appears to be hitting a stride as we come into the last few weeks of its development. The game should be going gold relatively soon as it launches on October 11th. If anything else Gears related hits, we’ll let you know right here.
