The Gamescom Award 2016 winners were announced today as part of this year’s edition of the Cologne based event. Alongside the usual, new categories made their appearance this year. The winners were announced in a ceremony which took place on the Social Media Stage.

From the Best of Gamescom to the Most Wanted Title

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild snatched the prize for being the Best of Gamescom and was also declared the best upcoming game for the Wii U. Additionally, Nintendo brought home another prize, as Mario Party Star Rush won in the Best Mobile Game category. PlayStation VR won in the Best Hardware category, while For Honor by Ubisoft was considered to be the best game for the PS4. The same title also won the prize for Best Upcoming PC game. The new Gamescom Award categories are Best Extension, Best Preview/Vision, and Best Stand Concept.  The winners for these were Destiny: Rise of Iron, Horizon – Zero Dawn, and Mafia III. Lastly, Battlefield 1 won the game won the Most Wanted Consumer Award.
