While we knew Gears of War 4 was likely coming in October, we weren’t privy to a solid date. Thankfully, a member of the development team over at The Coalition has revealed today when the Fenix family next enters the fray.
Adam Fletcher, Director of Community for the team, announced the news earlier this morning on the Xbox Wire:
“Gears fans, mark your calendars, as the next chapter in the Lancer-revving Gears of War saga is set to begin on October 11th with the release of Gears of War 4.
It’s been almost a year since Gears of War 4 made its global debut at E3 2015, and today’s announcement is set to ignite a chain of upcoming revelations about what’s in store for JD Fenix and the next generation of Gears heroes.
Gears of War 4 marks the beginning of an epic new saga for one of gaming’s most celebrated franchises, as a new band of heroes rises to confront a fearsome new threat. Harkening back to the dark and intense roots of the original classic, fans can expect a familiar, yet distinct evolution of gameplay, including brutal and intimate action, a heart-pounding campaign, genre-defining multiplayer and stunning visuals powered by Unreal Engine 4.”
With the multiplayer beta launching this month, and a no doubt E3 2016 blowout on the horizon, it looks as though we’re going to be seeing quite a bit of Gears of War 4 in the coming months. I’m excited to see what “the beginning of an epic new saga” has in store for us. If you happened to pickup a copy of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, you’ll be excited to know that you’re welcome to join the Gears of War 4 multiplayer beta early beginning April 18th. The rest of us schlubs on Xbox One can join in as of April 24th. See you there.
