Halo 5: Guardians releases in just a matter of weeks now (six to be exact), and to celebrate, Microsoft has released the opening cinematic for their tent-pole release.

It’s three and a half minutes of pure action. My take away from the clip? Spartan Locke and Fireteam Osiris are all about kicking ass and chewing bubble gum – and they’re all out of bubble gum (R.I.P., Roddy!).

It’s an impressive showing by the squad, and Nathan Fillion steals every moment he can as Spartan Edward Buck. But the leader of Fireteam Osiris, Spartan James Locke, shows throughout the clip why he’s the main threat amongst the group. Here’s Microsoft’s official description of the Halo 5: Guardians video:

“In the cinematic, the group receives UNSC orders to recover a high value target and deploy to take on Covenant and Promethean forces in a fierce action sequence – the start to the most ambitious, robust and epic Halo campaign experience yet.”

Halo 5: Guardians hits the Xbox One on October 27th.

Growing up a 90's kid, Jeff found his love for gaming during Nintendo's heyday. Because of that, you could call him a "Nintendo Fanboy" (albeit a rational one) to this day. Outside of his passion for the gaming industry, he’s also an avid sports enthusiast (New York Giants and Philadelphia Phillies mainly) and enjoys quality/popular TV shows and movies.
