Gran Turismo Sport

In what is surely disappointing news to fans of the racing genre on PlayStation 4, Gran Turismo Sport has been delayed.

Gentlemen, Shut Off Your Engines…

We weren’t far from the game’s original launch date of November 15th. However, the series’ renowned Producer, Kazunori Yamauchi, had some unfortunate news to drop this morning:

“Hello GT Community — I am sharing some news today that we have made the difficult decision to delay the release of Gran Turismo Sport to 2017. GT Sport is Polyphony’s foremost competitive gaming title, with high expectations from both the fans and from within our team.”

Yamauchi described the game as “one of our most ambitious undertakings” for the series yet. He attributes the use of “latest technologies”, more specifically physics-based rendering, sound simulations and Scapes photo mode, as core factors in the delay. He went on to further clarify the team’s reasoning:

“As we approach our planned release date in November, we realize we need more time to perfect GT Sport, which we’ve already dedicated so much effort towards since announcing the title. We do not want to compromise the experience in any way. While we cannot confirm a new release date at this time, we are more committed than ever to making GT Sport the best Gran Turismo game to date.”

As stated above, the new launch window for the title has yet to be specified. We could be in line for a much longer wait for the highly hyped racing sim. Best cool down those engines for now, folks.

Growing up a 90's kid, Jeff found his love for gaming during Nintendo's heyday. Because of that, you could call him a "Nintendo Fanboy" (albeit a rational one) to this day. Outside of his passion for the gaming industry, he’s also an avid sports enthusiast (New York Giants and Philadelphia Phillies mainly) and enjoys quality/popular TV shows and movies.
