Grand Theft Auto IV Backwards Compatible

Have you been missing hanging out with Niko and his cousin? Already moved on from your Xbox 360? Well Microsoft made a fantastic revelation today. Grand Theft Auto IV is now backwards compatible and playable on Xbox One.

“We Should Go Bowling!”

The backwards compatibility isn’t just for Grand Theft Auto IV proper. It also includes the DLC episodes The Lost and the Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony. Whether you had the original GTA IV release and downloaded the DLC, or purchased Grand Theft Auto IV: The Complete Edition, they’ll all work on your Xbox One. The DLC was also released as a standalone disc entitled Episode from Liberty City. That will now work on your Xbox One as well.

If you haven’t played GTA IV, you can purchase it currently for $19.99. The game was a tour de force when it released back in 2008. It currently resides at an astounding 98 Metascore on both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Both The Lost and the Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony were quite well received as well.

If you haven’t played the game and are into the GTA series, you’ve got to check it out. And there’s no better time than now.

Growing up a 90's kid, Jeff found his love for gaming during Nintendo's heyday. Because of that, you could call him a "Nintendo Fanboy" (albeit a rational one) to this day. Outside of his passion for the gaming industry, he’s also an avid sports enthusiast (New York Giants and Philadelphia Phillies mainly) and enjoys quality/popular TV shows and movies.
