Well, Capcom. You certainly have my attention now. Courtesy of the Tokyo Game Show, we’ve been presented with a new trailer for Resident Evil 7 dubbed “The Bakers”. And boy are they batshit crazy and scary.
Ya’ll Come Back Now, Ya Hear!?
“Down in Dulvey, Louisiana lies an old, derelict plantation house that looks like it hasn’t seen use in years. It turns out someone is home, though…” That’s our YouTube description for the new Resident Evil 7 glimpse we got today. And it doesn’t quite do justice to what just violated by eyeballs. It’s creepy as all hell, which is fantastic. We get a tad bit of back story for the game, then some actual gameplay itself. But the real kicker appears to be the stars of the show – The Bakers.
The entire trailer gave way to cues from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Blair Witch, and even some of the creepier stuff from True Detective. Our protagonist is eventually kidnapped by this Baker family, and boy are they twisted. I don’t want to ruin too much, it’s best that you “experience” this trailer for yourself, but it has me damn excited for the potential of this game.
While meeting the Bakers was a highlight of my morning, Capcom also revealed that the PlayStation 4 demo that is currently on the system’s store is ready for an update. Said update will be available to all, not just PlayStation Plus members, and will open up more of the game for Biohazard fans. Unfortunately, there’s still nothing to report as far as a demo on Xbox One goes.
The game isn’t too far away either. Resident Evil 7 hits Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4 (with support for VR and 4K on PlayStation Pro) January 24th.
