Well it’s about damn time, Niantic. After clamoring for something of substance to be implemented into the game for months, fans can finally get excited again. Generation 2 is about to hit Pokémon Go.
Johto Here We Come
In total, over 80 new Johto Pokémon will be entering the game to join the babies that were implemented a few weeks back:
“Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, and many more Pokémon are nearly here! Starting later this week, you’ll have the opportunity to catch more than 80 Pokémon originally discovered in the Johto region in the Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver video games.”
The new pocket monsters will include the next stage of evolutions for some of the Pokémon in Generation 1. These leaps include Zubat into Crobat, Slowpoke into Slowking, Onix into Steelix, Chansey into Blissey, Seadra into Kingdra, Scyther into Scizor, Eevee into Espeon and Umbreon, and Porygon into Porygon 2.
Niantic is shaking up the Encounter system with the latest update. They tease new Pokémon evasion animations, as well as “the addition of new item carousels that allow you to select Berries and Poké Balls directly from the encounter screen.”
Speaking of Berries, there are two new types being implemented into Pokémon Go: Nanab Berries and Pinap Berries. “Giving a Pokémon a Nanab Berry will slow its movements, making it easier to catch. The Pinap Berry doubles the amount of Candy you’ll receive if your next catch attempt succeeds.”
Finally, the developers have promised new customization options for our avatars. This includes “a whole new selection of hats, shirts, pants, and other items.” Niantic was vague as to when exactly the new content was dropping. But they did say “later this week”. Good luck in catching them all!
