The countdown is on. Literally. Bethesda Softworks, publisher and developer of the Fallout series, has quite the tease on its website right now. And it isn’t located at their main page of bethsoft.com. No, going to Bethesda’s main page will have browsers hit a redirect. That redirect lands them at fallout.bethsoft.com.
It’s happening, folks.
As of 12:15 p.m. ET, the countdown ticks down with 21:45:00 (hours:minutes:seconds) remaining. That has the timer ending at 10:00 a.m. ET, 7:00 a.m. PT tomorrow morning. Not much of long wait, thankfully.
There’s no guarantee at this point that this is a Fallout 4 announcement. But all signs point to it begin just that. By searching through the coding on Bethesda’s site there’s hits for Fallout 4. It’s been 5 years since the last entry in the series. And if you’re going to host your first ever E3 conference of your own, you better bring the big guns, right?
So what do we expect? Well, the Victory Point staff is a bit divided. Some (myself included) believe that we’ll see a short teaser for Fallout 4 tomorrow (a la Doom). The teaser will end with news of a live demo at Bethesda’s E3 presentation in just a couple weeks. And there, it’ll be announced for 2015. Has I mentioned it’s been 5 years?
Others aren’t as convinced, stating that Fallout 4 won’t conflict with Bethesda’s plans for Doom (what exactly are those plans?) and we’ll instead be met with a CGI trailer and a planned release of a least a year from now. Regardless of who’s right, the answers we’ve been waiting for are coming. And their less than two weeks away…
