Well, consider this a conflict of interest in the many Marvel movieverses. The Hollywood Reporter is now claiming that Josh Brolin has signed on to play the role of Cable in 4 picture deal. Beginning, of course, with Deadpool 2.
The Meta Jokes Just Write Themselves
As many of you probably know, Brolin is currently filming with the rest of the Avengers: Infinity War cast in the role of The Mad Titan Thanos. So it’s a little weird that he’d be playing another, vastly different character from the same source material. The Fox X-Men/Deadpool universe is completely separate from the Marvel Cinematic Universe though, so it shouldn’t be a big deal.
Josh Brolin is a hell of an actor, and will likely knock the role of Cable out of the park in Deadpool 2. Michael Shannon (Boardwalk Empire, Man of Steel) was previously the frontrunner for the role of Cable. But apparently his deal fell through at some point during negotiations. Brolin’s deal is set to be for four pictures. The aforementioned Deadpool 2, a likely X-Force film, and then whatever other two flicks Fox decides upon.
Filming should be getting underway for Wade Wilson’s follow up picture soon. Brolin and Reynolds are going to be a sight to behold.
