Activision Blizzard agreed to purchase all of King Digital Entertainment‘s , the company behind Candy Crush Saga and some of the most famous Facebook games currently available, outstanding shares for the sum of $ 5,9 billion.

The announcement, made on November 2nd, 2015 through King Digital Entertainment‘s official website, reported how both companies unanimously approved the transaction and are now working toward completing the deal, which will have to be reviewed by King’s shareholders and the Irish High Court, and should be finalized by spring 2016.

Activision CEO Robert Kotick commented this acquisition describing it as the base upon which to create the largest, most profitable company in interactive entertainment. “With a combined global network of more than half a billion monthly active users, our potential to reach audiences around the world on the device of their choosing enables us to deliver great games to even bigger audiences than ever before.”, Kotick said.

King Digital Entertainment will continue to be lead by the current management team: Chief Executive Officer Riccardo Zacconi, Chief Creative Officer Sebastian Knutsson, and Chief Operating Officer Stephane Kurgan.
