Grand Theft Auto Online - Deadline

Well, that came out of nowhere. Rockstar Games is dropping a new update for Grand Theft Auto Online today. And in doing so, they are blatantly ripping off another iconic series. And that’s awesome.

I Don’t Know Who Asked for Light Cycles In GTA Online, But They’re Geniuses

The newest update to Grand Theft Auto Online is entitled “Deadline”. In it, you can “turn the streets of Los Santos into a stylish electronic videogame battle to the death.” You’ll do so by jumping onto the brand new Nagasaki Shotaro:

“Light up the night with the blazingly fast Nagasaki Shotaro. Packed with enough energy to power the Los Santos grid and sporting the looks of an auto-show concept vehicle, the Shotaro delivers a driving experience that is out of this world.”

Players venturing through the Grand Theft Auto Online universe must first jump into a game of Deadline Adversary Mode. It’s here that you’ll take part the the Tron-styled new outing. By doing that, the Nagasaki Shotaro will then become available for purchase at Legendary Motorsport. Purchase the Shotaro, and you’ll also get a spiffy new Nagasaki Logo Tee added to your wardrobe.

Here’s Rockstar’s official wordage as to how the Deadline mode works:

“Deadline pits up to four players against another, each mounted on a different colored Shotaro, which emits a temporary light trail as you ride through the arena. Any competitor unfortunate enough to come in contact with said trail meets an instant explosion. Make calculated movements to force opponents to cross your trail’s path and take advantage of strategic power-ups for a competitive edge; use Boost to speed ahead and cut off your opponents, slow down time with Zoned for precision movement, or leap your opponent’s light trail with Hop.”

The Grand Theft Auto Online Deadline update is avaialbe now. Go give those slick new cycles a whirl.

Growing up a 90's kid, Jeff found his love for gaming during Nintendo's heyday. Because of that, you could call him a "Nintendo Fanboy" (albeit a rational one) to this day. Outside of his passion for the gaming industry, he’s also an avid sports enthusiast (New York Giants and Philadelphia Phillies mainly) and enjoys quality/popular TV shows and movies.
