With Marvel’s introduction to the mystic arts a mere 5ish weeks away, we’re starting to see the beginning of the comic goliath’s marketing push. Folks, Doctor Strange is nearing arrival.
In our first television spot, we get to see the standard amount of movie setup. But we also get to see a bit of a lighter side to the film as well. Toward the end of the clip, the movie’s main antagonist, Mads Mikkelsen’s Kaecilius, has a moment of playful banter with the Good Doctor. It makes us hopeful that the movie won’t be primarily focused on a confused and despair riddled Strange.
Tilda Swinton plays lends hand to the “standard movie setup”. She breaks down the general plot for the television audience. “You think you know how the world works”, she enters. “But what if I told you the reality you know if just one of many.” Cue our Inception-like building warping that we’ve seen in the previous trailers.
Benedict Wong also lends a helping hand to the general audience. He explains to Strange that while “The Avengers protect the world from physical dangers. We safeguard it against mystical threats.” I’m not certain where in the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline Strange gets his mystical powers, but if it’s before Age of Ultron, there is your out.
Toward the end of the Doctor Strange clip we see Strange really begin to come into his own. It looks good! But check it out for yourself below. Doctor Strange hits theaters November 4th.
