Back on April 1st, Nintendo revealed that Lucas was coming back to join the Super Smash Bros. roster as the title’s next downloadable character. Nintendo promised June as Lucas’ coming out party, and the company announced today that June it shall be.
Via Twitter, Nintendo has confirmed that Lucas will be available for download on Monday, June 15th:
Unlike Mewtwo, there is no way to get Lucas for free in Super Smash Bros. Everyone will have to purchase this character straight up. When Mewtwo was released, players that purchased him did so for $3.99 for one version of the game or $4.99 for both. One can assume Lucas will be price pointed similarly.
A random aside about this announcement – Nintendo chose to reveal this kernel of knowledge now, and not release the news and character simultaneously alongside Nintendo’s E3 Live Event. In doing so, one can hope that the company will have new Super Smash Bros. information to share with us. We know they’ve been taking submissions for what DLC characters would be coming next. Maybe then we’ll get some insight as to who was chosen? Or possibly who Nintendo has already been working on all along? We’ll know for sure in just a couple of weeks…
