Today, Electronic Arts announced the candidates for the Madden 16 cover vote. The company also detailed the process of how you can choose who graces the cover of this year’s iteration.
The four nominees for cover athlete are:
- Rob Gronkowski (New England Patriots tight end)
- Patrick Peterson (Arizona Cardinals cornerback)
- Odell Beckham Jr. (New York Giants wide receiver)
- Antonio Brown (Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver)
The voting process is actually pretty unique (you know, instead of just an online poll). Players can cast their vote by either playing the free-to-play game, Madden NFL Mobile or Madden Ultimate Team mode in Madden NFL 15. There is a limit on the number of times you can vote though. Madden NFL Mobile players can vote once per day, and can unlock extra votes by completing in-game challenges. Ultimate Team players, meanwhile, can cast just one vote initially, but can also earn four extra votes by completing Solo Challenges.
The first round of voting will end on May 11. Then the field will be narrowed down to two finalists. On May 13 anybody can cast their vote on ESPN.com.
It’s a pretty unique approach to things and it gets feedback from both diehard Madden fans as well as regular sports fans. As a fellow University of Arizona alum, my vote is for tight end Rob Gronkowski. Go Wildcats!
