While Mafia III was generally underwhelming critically, there was one thing that was pretty universally lauded: it’s story. Today, Hangar 13 confirmed that 3 story expansions are on the way. The studio revealed when we can expect them, as well as some hints for what’s in store.

“The Story Continues”

Jumping right into things, Hangar 13 revealed the first story expansion for Mafia III will be entitled “Faster, Baby!”. The developer is planning to release the content towards the end of March. The current schedule is to then release the following two expansion every other month, so May and July.

Hanger 13’s general synopsis for Mafia III‘s first DLC expansion is this:

“Fast cars, dramatic chases, and epic stunt driving take center stage as Lincoln joins forces with Roxy Laveau, a sister-in-arms out to take down a corrupt Sheriff terrorizing Civil Rights activists on the outskirts of New Bordeaux.”

Hangar 13’s Narrative Director, Bill Harms, gave a few teasers as to what to expect in Faster, Baby!:

“We were really humbled by the response to the characters and the story in Mafia III, so we wanted to double-down on that as much as possible, while also providing players with different gameplay experiences. Mafia III focuses on the systematic destruction of Sal Marcano’s empire, racket-by-racket, while all of the expansions tell direct, linear stories.”

The studio states that they learned from much of the fan’s criticism regarding the core game. For Faster, Baby!, they plan on “delivering another killer story. This tightly-told tale gets you right into the action and doesn’t stop.” The studio also promises to be introducing “a whole new part of New Bordeaux you’ve never seen before.”

More reveals are promised in the coming weeks. For now though, we know that the second expansion will be called “Stones Unturned” and the third “Sign of the Times”. Hopefully we’ll be getting a story trailer here soon for ”Faster, Baby!”.
