This is one that many knew was coming, but oddly Nintendo omitted it from their Switch presentation. Nintendo confirmed today via press release that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is headed to Switch. And pretty soon.
Nintendo’s Jumping Into the ‘Definitive Edition’ Game
While many were hoping for some fresh courses in the Kart series’ Switch debut, that’s unfortunately not happening. What is happening is players will get the 16 original courses from Mario Kart 8. On top of that, they’ll also get the 16 DLC courses that made their way into the game as well.
Link and his DLC partners are included just like their additional course counterparts. However, more characters are being thrown into the mix as well. New contenders include Inking Girl and Inkling Boy from Splatoon, King Boo, Dry Bones and Bowser Jr.
Nintendo is touting the ability to host 8 players games via local wireless. In addition to that, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will add a Balloon Battle Mode with a fresh coat of paint. Gone is the random wandering through actually race courses. Welcome back arena battles.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe releases on the Nintendo Switch on April 28th. Checkout the spiffy new box art and trailer below:
