It’s time to let slip loose the dogs of Mordor and head back into the fray. Warner Bros. and Monolith Productions—developers of the previous game—made it official that their sequel to the 2014 Shadow of Mordor will release August 22nd (North America) and August 25th (Europe) for PS4, XBox One / Project Scorpio, Steam, Windows 10 (with Play Anywhere). The time to rejoice and sharpen swords is now!

Following much speculation and a leak on February 26th the reveal was made official with a new trailer and the promise of another original story set in the Tolkien universe, featuring characters from the previous game—including Troy Baker who is returning as Talion—and a new ring of power as they battle Nazgul and Sauron. Mechanically, players will see a revamped Nemesis system return as well as something being called reactive NPCs and followers. This all sounds interesting, with a bold proclamation saying players’ actions will literally shape their worlds and that the game will be a more personal experience.

WB Games will be showing off more gameplay on March 8th, but while we all wait to kill more Orcs, here is the announcement trailer.
