Better late than never, right? Microsoft’s hit world-building game, Minecraft, is finally making its way onto Nintendo Wii U. Called Minecraft: Wii U Edition, the latest port will be released on December 17. The Wii U Edition will include six free DLC packs, and exclusive features to thank fans for waiting.

The six free add-on packs are the following:

  • Battle & Beasts Skin Pack
  • Battle & Beasts 2 Skin Pack
  • Natural Texture Pack
  • City Texture Pack
  • Fantasy Texture Pack
  • Festive Mash-up Pack

That is far from all the downloadable content that is coming to the game, though. At launch, Minecraft: Wii U Edition will also have 16 of the most popular add-on packs available for purchase. Here’s the full list of available DLC:

  • Festive Skin Pack
  • The Simpsons Skin Pack
  • Doctor Who Skins Volume 1
  • Doctor Who Skins Volume 2
  • Star Wars Classic Skin Pack
  • Star Wars Rebels Skin Pack
  • Star Wars Prequel Skin Pack
  • Mass Effect Mash-up Pack
  • Skyrim Mash-up Pack
  • Plastic Texture Pack
  • Candy Texture Pack
  • Cartoon Texture Pack
  • Steampunk Texture Pack
  • Pattern Texture Pack
  • Greek Mythology Mash-up Pack
  • Halloween 2015 Mash-up Pack

Sure, Minecraft is a bit late for Halloween, but Nintendo fans will finally get to check out Skyrim. The rest of the DLC makes sense with Star Wars releasing later this month, and Mass Effect having been released on Wii U as a launch title.

Nintendo also announced that they are working with developer Mojang on creating new content for the game, so you can expect Nintendo-specific DLC in the future. Another new feature for Minecraft: Wii U Edition is that players are able to use the Wii U GamePad for Off-TV play.

Let us know if you are excited about Nintendo working with Mojang, and what kind of Nintendo-specific DLC you would like to see in Minecraft: Wii U Edition in the future!

Tyler has enjoyed video games, both large and small, ever since he was a child with a Sega Genesis controller in hand. When he isn’t playing through strange retro games like Snoopy’s Silly Sports Spectacular, he can be found meditating under a waterfall to grow his beard or eating pizza. Probably the latter.
