Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow are hitting the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console next week. This is awesome, especially seeing as how they are coming with communication abilities that don’t require a link cable. Yay technology! To get everyone appropriately appreciative, Nintendo’s UK team has put out a new trailer to whet our appetites.

The clip is riddled with nostalgia. We start out with the Pokémon Red and Blue version: Professor Oak’s Pokémon initiation sequence, battling that first level 2 Rattata, and meeting and battling Brock. Then we transition to Yellow where we see Pikachu and Ash wrecking shop all over the place, including Team Rocket and Meowth after they run their mouths.

As the trailer tapers off, we get a glimpse at the Legendarys: Articuno is no match for Charizard’s Flamethrower, Zapdos can’t handle Golem’s Rock Slide, and Moltres is decimated by Gyrados’ Hydro Pump. Then, in the last couple seconds of the trailer, the infamous encounter with Mewtwo. Nostalgia overload!

Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow hit the 3DS Virtual Console on February 27th. Just try not to pick one of them up after watching this trailer.

Growing up a 90's kid, Jeff found his love for gaming during Nintendo's heyday. Because of that, you could call him a "Nintendo Fanboy" (albeit a rational one) to this day. Outside of his passion for the gaming industry, he’s also an avid sports enthusiast (New York Giants and Philadelphia Phillies mainly) and enjoys quality/popular TV shows and movies.
