War for the Planet of the Apes

Matt Reaves appears to be bringing his Apes series closer to a conclusion as we see more of his latest flick, War for the Planet of the Apes. With the stakes higher than ever, both Humans and Apes are fighting for their species survival this time around.

“Apes Together Strong!”

The Apes have suffered considerably due to the ongoing conflict with the Humans. The Humans, however, are being decimated by the virus that is wiping them out. Woody Harrison’s “Colonel” character knows that it will eventually come down to one species. And he’s doing all that he can to ensure it’s the Humans who prevail.

Here’s Fox’s official plot summary:

“In War for the Planet of the Apes, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.”

It’s clear in the trailer that a gorilla has defected from the Apes and is helping the Humans. It looks like, because of this defection, they were able to capture Caesar as well. This is sure to be short lived. And we do get a glimpse of the Colonel v. Caesar conflict in this trailer. The entire thing is pretty action packed and makes me crazy excited to see this flick in a few months.

The movie releases on July 14th. Shortly after that be prepared to bow to our Ape overlords.
