10 additional Xbox 360 titles are now available on Xbox One. This is, of course, thanks to the Xbox One’s Backward Compatibility feature. The new titles were announced earlier this morning over at Major Nelson’s blog.
The biggest game on the list is The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. The predecessor to one of 2015’s best games of the year, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, is not only now playable on Xbox One, but free to download currently. Gamers can download CD Projekt RED’s role-playing game for no charge until February 5.
The rest of the list is all digital-only games, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some great Xbox Live Arcade offerings that are now available. For example, a whole new generation of gamers can finally experience the Jeff Minter designed trip that is Space Giraffe. Not only does the Tempest influenced game feature the head of J Allard, it also features some of the craziest visuals seen in a game.
Telltale Games fans will be glad to know that Sam & Max Save the World is also on the list. Their revival of LucasArts’ classic series is definitely more in the traditional adventure game style compared to their recent offerings like The Walking Dead and Tales from the Borderlands.
There seems to be something for everyone on this list, as fighting game fans will be thrilled to find out that both Skullgirls and Soulcalibur have made the cut. Meanwhile gamers looking for some action-oriented titles will find just that in the shoot ’em up Aegis Wing, first-person shooter Counter-Strike: GO, and in motorcycle racer Jeremy McGrath’s Offroad Arcade. Rounding out the list of backwards compatible games are Age of Booty, and Small Arms.
This is a great batch of additions to Microsoft’s ever growing list of backward compatible games, and hopefully even more will be added soon. The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is certainly worth downloading since it’s free, and who doesn’t love Soulcalibur?
