Hellblade

Ninja Theory is determined to “double down” with their upcoming title, Hellblade. The developer has noted that “mental health and psychosis are the key themes explored” in the game. The synopsis is as follows:

“Inspired by historical events, Hellblade tells the story of Senua, a Celtic warrior who is left traumatized by a Viking invasion. This third person action game will follow Senua’s journey into a vision of hell that is the manifestation of her own mental illness.”

Sounds intense. As is Ninja Theory’s approach to the game. “Ninja Theory is defined by three things”, their blog states, “ninja-class melee gameplay, strong character stories and a unique art vision. On Hellblade, we will double down on what we do best to give you a deeper character in a twisted world with brutal, uncompromising, combat.

It appears as though the developer is swinging for the fences with Hellblade, which is planned for PlayStation 4 and PC. We’ll have a better idea of how they far at E3 next week, but until then, checkout the newly released trailer for Hellblade.

Outside of his passion for the gaming industry, he’s also an avid sports enthusiast (New York Giants and Philadelphia Phillies mainly) and enjoys quality/popular TV shows and movies.
