During Nintendo’s Fire Emblem Direct yesterday, the publisher came right out of the gates to reveal a new title. That title? Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows Of Valentia for Nintendo 3DS. However, it turns out that it Echoes isn’t exactly “new”.
Is Everyone Excited for a Remake of a 1992 Fire Emblem Game?!?!
That’s right, Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows Of Valentia is actually a complete remake (obviously) of Fire Emblem Gaiden. This was the second installment of the Fire Emblem series, a title which was only released in Japan back in 1992 on the Nintendo Famicon.
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows Of Valentia “reimagines Gaiden on a grander scale.” There are dual protagonists, Alm and Celica, whom will work along a team of others to stop the doom of Valentia. “Everything that made Gaiden unique is here; free roaming, dungeons crawling with enemies, flexible character progression. It’s classic Fire Emblem gameplay with a twist.”
This is an awesome out of left field reveal from Nintendo. It’s further proof that the publisher is not finished with the Nintendo 3DS quite yet. Shadows of Valentia lands on May 19th. In addition to the game proper, Nintendo is also releasing two new amiibo. The main characters of the game, Alm and Celica, will come in a combined 2 toy amiibo package.
