Twilight Princess HD - Trials

Last week details began to emerge regarding what use amiibo would be in the upcoming Twilight Princess HD remake. Turns out a lot of those rumors were true, as Nintendo has released a new video this morning confirming them.

The highlight of the rumor mill was “The Cave of Twilight” dungeon possibly being implemented into the game. There is indeed a cave, dubbed “The Cave of Shadows”, but it isn’t quite a dungeon. The cave is “a brand new set of challenges where you’ll use Wolf Link and Midna’s abilities to wipe out waves of enemies. After conquering the cave, you can save a record of your remaining hearts to the Wolf Link amiibo and attempt to beat your score whenever you want.” It essentially sounds like a Horde style mode within Twilight Princess HD that will allow you to take hearts you’ve earned out of the trial and into the game proper for later use. A fun addition, but probably not what many were hoping for.

The other Legend of Zelda amiibo are indeed being put to use in Twilight Princess HD as well. Using the Link or Toon Link amiibo will replenish your arrow quiver throughout your adventure. While using the Princess Zelda or Sheik amiibo replenish your heart stock should Link’s life be in danger. Finally, if you’re up for a bit more of challenge, tap the Ganondorf amiibo onto your Gamepad and you’ll unlock a more difficult game mode where Link takes extra damage from enemies.

The blue hearts indicate how dangerous it is to go alone once you tap the Ganondorf amiibo.

The video closes out with a quick glimpse of The Legend of Zelda for Wii U as the narrator reminds us to not forget that the Wolf Link amiibo will serve a yet to be disclosed function in the game.
