The Legend of Zelda - 30th Anniversary

in-store for us to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of The Legend of Zelda series.

Hey! Happy 30th, Link!

Reggie began the segment by reminding folks that the original The Legend of Zelda would be a part of the NES Classic Edition in just a few months. But he didn’t stop there. He also revealed that a quartet of The Legend of Zelda amiibo are on their way too.

There will be an 8-Bit version of Link himself, much like the Mario one that was released earlier this year. We also have a Ocarina of Time Link coming which features Adult Link playing the titular instrument. Finally, a two pack is coming as well featuring both Link and Zelda from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. Each of these amiibo will work as “standard Link and Zelda” figurines. However, these versions will also have special interaction with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild when it releases next year.

The next reveal from Reggie was that Dark Horse Comics would be bringing 3 new Zelda books to our coffee tables. The first of which is dubbed The Legend of Zelda: Art and Artifacts. It features a plethora of art from the 30 years of the series’ existence, as well as a encyclopedia-esque repository of the series’ infamous items. The other two books weren’t revealed, but you can pre-order The Legend of Zelda: Art and Artifacts as of today.

Finally, before bowing out, Nintendo’s American COO revealed that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword would be hitting the Nintendo 3DS eShop as of today.

Growing up a 90's kid, Jeff found his love for gaming during Nintendo's heyday. Because of that, you could call him a "Nintendo Fanboy" (albeit a rational one) to this day. Outside of his passion for the gaming industry, he’s also an avid sports enthusiast (New York Giants and Philadelphia Phillies mainly) and enjoys quality/popular TV shows and movies.
