Well, so much for a NX Christmas. The same investors meeting that shone light on Nintendo’s next smart phone offerings sunk hopes for a 2016 NX release.
Calling it “the next generation of Nintendo”, the company announced we can expect the launch of the Nintendo NX in March 2017:

So yes, almost another entire year to wait. Nintendo went on to further dash hopes by confirming they have no plans to show off the NX at E3 this year:
“NX will not make an appearance at the upcoming E3 video game trade show in Los Angeles in June and will be unveiled later this year.”
So, there you have it. It’s going to be a while longer until we actually get anything on the NX. Not until after June’s E3 for sure. We’ll continue to follow the prominent news and rumors that hit the interwebs and bring them all to you. That is until Nintendo actually brings news to us themselves about the supposed console/portable hybrid.
