Nintendo did a hell of a job with its DLC for Mario Kart 8. The second (and presumably final) DLC pack released over a year ago in April. Mums been the word since, so it seemed safe to assume Nintendo was two and done. However, a cryptic tweet coming from Nintendo of Europe today is making fans giddy with hope.

“Good things come to those who wait” it says, followed by a Mario Kart 8 hashtag. The course in the image is Kalimari Desert from Mario Kart 64. It was later recreated in Mario Kart 7. So this then begs the question – is Nintendo of Europe hyping a potential new DLC drop to be announced during E3? Nintendo isn’t planning an event other than it’s live Tree House event, so where they would make the announcement is anyone’s guess. Or, we could be just blowing this thing entirely out of proportion and Nintendo of Europe just wanted to drop a philosophical mantra on us.
Mario Kart 8 is an amazing game, and more DLC tracks would be an absolute delight. We’ll have to wait a couple weeks to know for sure whether there’s any fire coming from this smoke – or if it’s just someone spewing exhaust in our faces.
