While showing the potential of the upcoming PlayStation 4 PRO, the guys at BioWare wanted to give us a gift. A short piece of gameplay footage from Mass Effect: Andromeda managed to sneak into the theater and entertain the guests.
Vaults And Unstable Planets To Explore
Albeit being brief, the footage still showcases some important aspects of the game. Mass Effect: Andromeda will, once again, be a third-person title and will feature unwelcoming planets and scenarios. Once more, you will run around undiscovered locations as you try to complete your missions and survive. The protagonist will also be able to scan their surroundings, thus obtaining important information on the planet they are exploring.
Little is known about the story and setting of this episode. Unstable vaults and dangerous alien species were part of a monologue uttered by a character that sounded a lot like the original Commander Shepard. This could hint and the return of our hero, whose fate remains unknown after the destruction of The Crucible at the end of Mass Effect 3. Although that is highly unlikely. Furthermore, we could be meeting new races and even new cults.
The game will make full use of the PlayStation 4 PRO 4K support. Mass Effect: Andromeda is based off the FrostBite engine. The game is designed to offer high resolution dynamic lighting on all supported platforms, a detail that should further increase the overall feeling of immersion.
