Many of us already saw this as a real possibility, but today our suspicions were confirmed: Persona 5 is being delayed into 2016.
The news was broke by Persona 5 Director Katsura Hashino during the Tokyo Game Show. He was quite apologetic about the date being moved, but insisted it was essential to delivering a high-quality product. The game is now slated for next summer. Here’s Atlus’ official statement:
“The strengths of the Persona series are compelling characters, a moving, relatable story, and a borderline obsession with minutiae – elements which can’t be rushed or taken lightly. So while ATLUS realizes the frustration and disappointment that this must cause for the JRPG-loving public, please know that we are delaying the game in order to make sure the next iteration of the Persona series lives up to the expectations of fans.”
In order to appease the now depressed masses, Hashino debuted a brand new trailer for Persona 5. It has quite a bit of heft to it, coming in at nearly 4 minutes. Put those Kleenexes away and take a gander below.
