The wait will soon be over for PlayStation 4 owners who want to play Rise of the Tomb Raider as the game will arrive on October 11 2016. This version is called Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration and is jam packed with content. Along with the base game this version comes with all the DLC released to this point: Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch, and the Cold Darkness Awakened pack. But the big news here is the edition of a Virtual Reality chapter. This version includes a new section of the game called Blood Ties, where you explore Croft Manor and fight off monsters of Lara’s Nightmare. This part of the game can be played normally or in VR, and is a nice little bonus for those getting PlayStationVR this fall. When playing in VR this section becomes first person instead of the usual third and it will be interesting to see what Crystal Dynamics (the studio behind Tomb Raider) can do with Virtual Reality.

In addition Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration will feature an online co-op mode, where you can raid tombs and tackle survival gauntlets to compete against other teams on leaderboards. There are also a handful of new skins and a new difficulty setting. While no price has been stated yet I assume this is a standard $60 USD game, but there doesn’t appear to be anything on if you can buy the VR section separately.
