With no news insight regarding the major updates planned for Pokémon Go, Niantic has announced something just a bit more lackluster. And by just a bit I mean a ton. The developer has announced plans to launch a Valentine’s Day event for their mobile Catch ‘Em All title beginning today.
Hope You’re Excited for Pink Pokémon!
Sorry to come across as pessimistic about the event. But as a continual player, it’s frustrating that we’ve still yet to see a glimpse at some of the more promising features headed to the game. At least, I hope they’re still headed to the game…
The Valentine’s Day Pokémon Go event will run from today (February 8th) through the morning of Wednesday, February 15th. It’s main feature is the ability to earn double the normal rate of candy for each time you transfer, catch or hatch Pokémon within the game. Also, your Buddy Pokémon will earn candy via walks twice as fast during the event.
As sarcastically noted above, “many adorable pink Pokémon will be encountered more frequently in the wild.” However, on an actually more exciting note, the egg-only Generation 2 Pokémon of Cleffa, Igglybuff and Smoochum will more likely to hatch from your incubators during the week.
One other cool note is that all lures placed will during the event will last for 6 hours rather than the typical 30 minutes. So place those lures and get to catching. Enjoy the pink Pokémon while they last. I’m sure come March 17th green Pokémon will be all the rage in Pokémon Go.
