The Last of Us Part II

The PlayStation Experience (PSX) event took place over the weekend and dropped some major bombs. The biggest of which would probably be the reveal of what is officially being called The Last of Us Part II.

It’s Ellie’s Time to Shine

The trailer debuted over the weekend. Neil Druckmann, Creative Director at Naughty Dog, gave a few additional details over at the PlayStation blog. But again, they were few:

It’s still early days for the project—the game’s release is a ways off—but we couldn’t wait any longer to give you a glimpse of what’s to come. We’re going to let the trailer speak for itself, but expect more information about The Last of Us Part II in the coming months.

Druckmann also spoke to how The Last of Us Part II almost never happened:

“While a sequel may have seemed like a foregone conclusion, that wasn’t the case. We knew that it needed to be a story worth telling and, perhaps more importantly, a story worthy of Joel and Ellie. After spending years on different ideas (and almost giving up), we finally uncovered a story that felt special—a story that evolved into an epic journey.”

Druckmann also revealed during the PSX panel that Ellie will be the main character this go around. He stated that “Joel was the star in the first, Ellie is the star in this one. And that “Ellie plays differently from Joel.”

It’s likely that the title will revert back into radio silence for a while. It’s probably slated as a 2018 release. But we know it exists and it’s certainly something to look forward to. Checkout the trailer below.

Growing up a 90's kid, Jeff found his love for gaming during Nintendo's heyday. Because of that, you could call him a "Nintendo Fanboy" (albeit a rational one) to this day. Outside of his passion for the gaming industry, he’s also an avid sports enthusiast (New York Giants and Philadelphia Phillies mainly) and enjoys quality/popular TV shows and movies.
