Double Damage Games’ upcoming space exploration title, Rebel Galaxy, now has a release date. The latest game from Travis Baldree and Erich Schaefer, the creators of both Diablo and Torchlight, is set to release on October 20, 2015 on PC.

Console owners will only have to wait a little bit longer to explore a randomly-generated galaxy, as Rebel Galaxy will launch later on in 2015 for PS4 and Xbox One. Those who want to experience the life of a space pirate will just have to fork over $20.

Double Damage Games’ Co-Founder Travis Baldree was understandably excited about the announcement. “We’ve had more fun making this game than anything else we’ve ever done,” said Travis. “And we’re excited – and a little nervous! – to see it out in the world.” Those are strong words from Baldree considering what games he has worked on previously at both Blizzard and Runic Games.

Players can see the Diablo creators latest game in action below, as they unveiled a new trailer to coincide with the release date announcement.

Considering the developers’ pedigree and how impressive the trailer looks, it is hard not to be excited about Rebel Galaxy. The game’s selling point of allowing players to choose their path through space by doing what they want, be it scavenging wreckage to live an honest life or living like a space pirate, is fascinating. We’ll find out if Double Damage Games was able to pull off their vision on October 20.

Tyler has enjoyed video games, both large and small, ever since he was a child with a Sega Genesis controller in hand. When he isn’t playing through strange retro games like Snoopy’s Silly Sports Spectacular, he can be found meditating under a waterfall to grow his beard or eating pizza. Probably the latter.
