The time has finally come.

Today, Rockstar Games announced that Red Dead Redemption will officially become backwards compatible on the Xbox One this Friday, July 8.

It should be noted that Xbox 360 owners of the game will be able to play on Xbox One no matter what version of the game they owned. If you never grabbed the game when it was first released (what’s wrong with you, crazy?), you’ll be able to purchase the game on Xbox One beginning Friday.

This is great news for Xbox One owners! Red Dead Redemption is one of Rockstar’s best games, and a truly great experience. Set in the Wild West in the early 1900’s, Red Dead Redemption is about John Marston seeking out his old gang members in order to re-aquaint with his family.

Still no word on a PC port though. :'(
